Frequently asked questions
Answers to what people ask us most before choosing an online doctor: price, how it works, safety, and who we are.
Price and payment
What does it cost?
The consultation is free, and there is no start-up fee. Other clinics charge DKK 149 to 299 to get started. Membership costs from DKK 138 per 4 weeks for weight loss and from DKK 69 per 4 weeks for erectile dysfunction, and the first 4 weeks are free. You buy the medication yourself at the pharmacy. See the prices under weight loss and erectile dysfunction.
When do I pay?
If you choose the rolling membership, you pay DKK 0 at booking, and we only charge you once your 4 free weeks are over. If you choose 12 weeks or 1 year, we reserve your first period on your card at booking, with the 4 free weeks deducted. The reservation may look like a payment in your bank, but we only charge the amount on the day the doctor approves you and issues your prescription. The period runs from that same day. If the doctor does not approve the treatment, we release the reservation and you pay DKK 0.
What if the treatment is not right for me?
Then you pay nothing. If we have reserved an amount on your card, we release it. If the doctor finds that the treatment is not right for you, or that you do not meet the Danish Health Authority's requirements, the doctor explains why, and you pay DKK 0.
Is there a binding period?
You decide. With a 1-year membership (weight loss DKK 138 per 4 weeks, DKK 1,799 paid annually, erectile dysfunction DKK 69 per 4 weeks, DKK 897 paid annually) or a 12-week membership, you pay the period in one go and get the lower price. The membership without binding (weight loss DKK 199, erectile dysfunction DKK 149 per 4 weeks) can be cancelled at any time. The binding period starts on the day the doctor approves you and issues your prescription. After that we renew the membership automatically at the same price. You cancel yourself on My page by logging in, no later than 24 hours before a renewal. See the terms and conditions.
How it works
Can I get a prescription online in Denmark?
Yes. Licensed Danish doctors may issue prescriptions after a video or phone consultation when the doctor finds it medically appropriate. At Recepta the doctor sends the e-prescription to your pharmacy, often the same day, and you collect the medication there.
How quickly can I get started?
Often the same day. You choose a time yourself, including evenings and weekends. If the doctor approves your treatment, the doctor sends the prescription to your pharmacy right after the call.
How does an online consultation work?
You answer a few questions about your health and fill in your details. You then book a free consultation with a doctor, by video for weight loss and by phone for erectile dysfunction. The doctor goes through your answers with you and assesses whether the treatment is right for you.
How do I get my medication?
If the doctor approves your treatment, the doctor sends the prescription electronically to your pharmacy, often the same day. You collect the medication and pay for it at the pharmacy.
Safety and discretion
Do I talk to a doctor or a nurse?
You talk to a doctor from the first minute, never a chatbot or a receptionist. At several online clinics you first meet a nurse or a questionnaire, and a doctor you never speak to reviews your file afterwards. At Recepta the doctor goes through your answers with you, and you keep the same doctor throughout your treatment.
Is the treatment discreet?
Yes. You talk to the doctor from home by video or phone, and all our doctors are bound by full confidentiality. You collect the prescription at your own pharmacy, just like any other prescription medication.
Is my information safe?
Yes. We store your data in line with GDPR and follow the guidelines of the Danish Health Data Authority. You state your name when booking, and the doctor confirms your identity during the phone consultation. All our doctors are bound by full confidentiality. Read more in our privacy policy and under authority and safety.
Am I insured as a patient?
Yes. Our patient compensation insurance with Tryg covers all members. Should an injury unexpectedly occur in connection with your treatment, you are covered just as at any other Danish clinic.
Weight loss pill and Wegovy pill
Where can I get the Wegovy pill?
At Danish pharmacies from Monday 28 September 2026. The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide 25 mg tablet) was approved in the EU on 15 July 2026 and launched in Germany on 1 September 2026. The Danish pharmacy price is DKK 2,838.20 for 30 tablets of 1.5 mg or 4 mg and DKK 3,876.90 for 30 tablets of 9 mg (28 September 2026, no subsidy). It requires a prescription from a doctor, and you collect it at the pharmacy. Sign up on our list to be offered an appointment with the doctor, or read the doctor's guide to the Wegovy pill.
Can I get the Wegovy pill online?
Yes, from 28 September 2026, when it arrived in Denmark. You talk to a licensed Danish doctor by video or phone at Recepta, and if the pill is suitable for you, the prescription is sent electronically to your own pharmacy. The doctor can also assess you for the Wegovy pen, which contains the same active ingredient. Never buy Wegovy without a prescription from unknown online shops.
Is there a prescription weight loss pill in Denmark?
Yes. From 28 September 2026 the Wegovy pill can be prescribed in Denmark as the first GLP-1 weight loss pill. Until then, the weight loss medications Danish doctors prescribed were weekly injections (Wegovy and Mounjaro). Rybelsus is semaglutide as a tablet but is only approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight loss. Older prescription pills such as orlistat and naltrexone/bupropion give a smaller weight loss. Weight loss pills sold freely online without a prescription are dietary supplements with no documented effect.
What is the difference between a weight loss pill and weight loss medication?
Weight loss medication means all prescription medicines for weight loss, whatever the form. A weight loss pill or tablet is simply the form the medication is taken in. Wegovy today exists both as a pen and as a pill with the same active ingredient, semaglutide. The effect is of the same order: about 14 percent weight loss for the pill in OASIS 4 and about 15 percent for the pen in STEP 1. The doctor helps you choose.
When does the Wegovy pill come to Denmark?
It arrived on Monday 28 September 2026 and can be prescribed now. The pill was EU approved on 15 July 2026 and launched in Germany on 1 September 2026 as the first EU country. Today's Danish price is listed on recepta.dk/apotekspriser/. Sign up on the list and we will write when there is news.
Viagra and erectile dysfunction medication
Can I get a Viagra prescription online?
Often, yes. At Recepta you answer 3 questions, book a free phone consultation or ask the doctor to call as soon as possible, and if the doctor approves the treatment, the e-prescription is sent to your own pharmacy the same day. You can collect the medication there or order from a Danish online pharmacy with discreet delivery.
Can you buy Viagra without a prescription?
No. Viagra and all other sildenafil is prescription-only in Denmark, and pharmacies and registered online pharmacies may only dispense it against a prescription. Online shops selling Viagra without a prescription to people in Denmark are acting illegally, and the Danish Medicines Agency often finds counterfeit tablets with wrong or dangerous contents. The consultation at Recepta is free, so there is no reason to take the risk.
What do Viagra and sildenafil cost?
The original Viagra costs over DKK 1,000 for 12 tablets, while generic sildenafil with the same active ingredient typically costs DKK 30 to 50 for 12 tablets (September 2026, see medicinpriser.dk). At Recepta the consultation is free, and the treatment with prescription, renewals and follow-up costs from DKK 69 per 4 weeks with the first 4 weeks free.
Viagra or Cialis, what is the difference?
Viagra (sildenafil) works for 4 to 6 hours and is taken as needed. Cialis (tadalafil) works for up to 36 hours and is also available as a low daily dose. The effect is the same. The difference is duration, timing and slightly different side effects (back pain is more common on tadalafil). The doctor recommends the type that fits your everyday life.
