Price and payment
What does it cost, and what do I get?+
Membership costs from DKK 138 per 4 weeks, and the first 4 weeks are free. Under Prices you can see the three periods and the exact amounts. Membership covers the doctor consultation, prescription, ongoing follow-up and replies to your e-mails every day. You buy the medication yourself at the pharmacy. You only pay after your doctor consultation.
When do I pay?+
If you choose the rolling membership, you pay DKK 0 at booking. We only charge you once your 4 free weeks are over, and only if the doctor has approved your treatment. If you choose 12 weeks or 1 year, we reserve your entire first period on your card at booking (DKK 332 or DKK 1,660, with the 4 free weeks deducted). The reservation may look like a payment in your bank, but we only charge the amount on the day the doctor approves your treatment and issues your prescription. The period runs from that same day. After that you pay DKK 499 per 12 weeks or DKK 1,799 per year, always as one combined charge per period. If the doctor does not approve you, we release the reservation and you pay DKK 0. We never see your card details.
Is there a binding period?+
You decide. With a 1-year membership (DKK 138 per 4 weeks, DKK 1,799 paid annually) or a 12-week membership (DKK 166 per 4 weeks, DKK 499) you commit for the period and get the lower price. The membership with no binding period costs DKK 199 per 4 weeks and can be cancelled at any time. After the period we renew the membership automatically at the same price, and you can always cancel on My page, no later than 24 hours before a renewal. The binding period starts on the day the doctor approves your treatment. Until then you can change your mind without paying.
What happens if the doctor does not approve the treatment?+
Then you pay nothing. If we have reserved an amount on your card, we release it, and the membership stops by itself. The consultation costs nothing either. The doctor always explains why and advises you on what you can do instead.

The treatment
Who can the doctor approve for treatment?+
Adults with a BMI over 30, or over 27 together with a weight-related health factor such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or PCOS. If you have diabetes, are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, the treatment is not suitable. The doctor always assesses you individually. Can I choose between tablets and injections myself?+
Yes. You state your preference in the quiz: tablets, injections or the doctor's recommendation. The tablet and the injection contain the same active ingredient. The difference lies in how you take the medication and how much weight loss you can expect. Take the weight loss quiz and we show you the two curves. The doctor assesses with you what suits your health history. We never guarantee a prescription.
How do I take the medication in practice?+
You take either one tablet daily or a weekly injection with a thin needle in a pre-filled pen. The doctor helps you choose and increases the dose according to a fixed plan, so you get as few side effects as possible. The doctor always combines the treatment with guidance on diet and physical activity.
I am already in treatment. Can you take over my treatment?+
Yes. If you already use weight loss medication, the doctor takes over your treatment and continues or adjusts it, for example a switch from weekly injections to a daily tablet. Start the quiz and state what you use today, and the doctor plans the switch with you.
How quickly can I get started?+

What can I see in the portal?+
Once the doctor has approved your treatment, you get access to My page. Here you see your treatment plan and current dose, your weight curve against the expected one, your upcoming follow-ups and a direct line to your doctor, all in one place and updated by the doctor. You also cancel your membership here, no later than 24 hours before your next renewal. If you cancel later, the current period runs to its end and the treatment then stops.

Safety and side effects
Is the medication safe?+
Yes. The European medicines authorities have approved the weight loss medication. Like all medication it can cause side effects, most often temporary nausea at the start. Your doctor follows you closely throughout the treatment.
Which side effects are the most common?+
Nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, stomach pain, headache and tiredness. They typically appear at the start and when the dose is increased, and subside for most people after a couple of weeks. Rare but serious side effects are inflammation of the pancreas and gallstones. If you get severe, persistent stomach pain, stop the treatment and contact a doctor. Your doctor follows you closely and adjusts the dose as needed.
Who should not have medical weight loss?+
You should not start if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you or your immediate family have had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) or MEN 2 syndrome, or if you have previously had a serious allergic reaction to the active ingredient. If you have had inflammation of the pancreas, gallstones or kidney problems, the doctor needs to know. The doctor always reviews your health history before you start.
How do you protect my information?+
We encrypt your connection and store your health information in the EU in line with GDPR and the medical record rules, just as your own GP does. We never sell your information. Read more in our privacy policy.

About Wegovy
What is Wegovy, and do you use it?+
Wegovy is a prescription medication for weight loss with the active ingredient semaglutide, taken as one injection a week. Yes, Wegovy is one of the medicines our doctors prescribe when it is suitable and safe for you. Read our full review of Wegovy: how it works, dosing, side effects and price.
How much weight do you lose on Wegovy?+
In the main STEP 1 trial, participants on Wegovy lost on average about 15 percent of their body weight over 68 weeks, compared with about 2 percent on placebo. Results vary from person to person and also depend on what else you change.
What does Wegovy cost?+
Wegovy is bought at the pharmacy without subsidy and costs in the region of DKK 1,300 for four weeks on the starting doses and up to DKK 2,300 on the highest dose (September 2026). The current price is listed on medicinpriser.dk. On top of that comes our membership from DKK 138 for four weeks, with the first four weeks at DKK 0.
Can I get Wegovy online at Recepta?+
Yes. You talk to a licensed Danish doctor by video or phone. If Wegovy is suitable for you, the prescription is sent electronically, often the same day, and you collect Wegovy at your own pharmacy. The requirement is a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above with a weight-related condition.
Wegovy or Mounjaro, which is best?+
Both work. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) gave slightly greater weight loss in the trials, while Wegovy (semaglutide) has the longest track record and is also approved to protect the heart in people with known heart disease. The doctor chooses with you based on your health, other medication, price and availability.
Is Wegovy available as a pill?+
Yes, Wegovy as a tablet was approved in the EU on 15 July 2026 and can be prescribed in Denmark from Monday 28 September 2026. Read our guide to the Wegovy pill, or join the list to be offered an appointment with the doctor.
Where can I get the Wegovy pill?
At Danish pharmacies from Monday 28 September 2026. The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide 25 mg tablet) was approved in the EU on 15 July 2026 and launched in Germany on 1 September 2026. The Danish pharmacy price is DKK 2,838.20 for 30 tablets of 1.5 mg or 4 mg and DKK 3,876.90 for 30 tablets of 9 mg (28 September 2026, no subsidy). It requires a prescription from a doctor, and you collect it at the pharmacy. Sign up on our list to be offered an appointment with the doctor, or read the doctor's guide to weight loss pills.
Can I get the Wegovy pill online?
Yes, from 28 September 2026, when it arrived in Denmark. You talk to a licensed Danish doctor by video or phone at Recepta, and if the pill is suitable for you, the prescription is sent electronically to your own pharmacy. The doctor can also assess you for the Wegovy pen, which contains the same active ingredient. Never buy Wegovy without a prescription from unknown online shops.
Is there a prescription weight loss pill in Denmark?
Yes. From 28 September 2026 the Wegovy pill can be prescribed in Denmark as the first GLP-1 weight loss pill. Until then, the weight loss medicines Danish doctors prescribed were weekly injections (Wegovy and Mounjaro). Rybelsus is semaglutide as a tablet but is only approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight loss. Older prescription pills such as orlistat and naltrexone/bupropion give a smaller weight loss. Weight loss pills sold freely online without a prescription are dietary supplements with no documented effect.
What is the difference between a weight loss pill and weight loss medication?
Weight loss medication covers all prescription medicines for weight loss, whatever the form. A weight loss pill or weight loss tablet is simply the form the medication is taken in. Wegovy is available today both as a pen and as a pill with the same active ingredient, semaglutide. The effect is of the same order: about 14 percent weight loss for the pill in OASIS 4 and about 15 percent for the pen in STEP 1. The doctor helps you choose.
When does the Wegovy pill come to Denmark?
It arrived on Monday 28 September 2026 and can be prescribed now. The pill was approved in the EU on 15 July 2026 and launched in Germany on 1 September 2026 as the first EU country.
